Matrix Absence Management is one of the top Third Party Administrators (TPA) supporting clients in absence management (FMLA/Disability/Workers' Compensation). We partner with our clients Human Resources department to manage Disability and/or Leave of absences until the claim is resolved or the employee returns to work.  Our highly customer centric approach is to try and duplicate the culture of our clients to make the experience seamless for employees.  Our mobile app technology provides ease of use to our client and employee in reporting claim information.

Position Summary 

The Supervisor, Disability & FMLA Claims will support a team of claims examiners in order to provide our client's employees a fantastic customer experience while we fairly and accurately adjudicate their claim.  Responding to complex situations while utilizing your expertise and collaborating with others to ensure claims are handled properly. Collaboration with others to meet our changing demands in workloads, which require great teamwork to successfully deliver on our commitments to our customers. This position will be supporting a very important client with complex and challenging needs.

 

Duties:

  • Supervise a team of Claims Examiners according to established procedures; plan documents and state and federal guidelines. 
  • Ensure compliance with policy, provisions, state and federal regulations.
  • Team will exercise expense management through investigation, appropriate follow up, case management and claim settlements. 
  • Coordinate appropriate assessment and assignment of customer to suitable claims examiner. Promote effective working relationships among team and Sales, Underwriting and Brokers.
  • Responsible for assisting in implementation of new accounts and ensuring ongoing satisfaction.
  • Responsible for selection, development, motivation, appraisal and salary recommendations of reporting subordinates.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred. Work experience considered primary in some cases.
  • Prior experience working with Disability Claims Management required - preferably seeking 5(+) years experience or longer.
  • Management or Team Lead capacity is a plus.
  • Proven experience in providing internal and external customer service. 
  • Strong decision making capabilities.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with the utmost judgment and discretion. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
