Position Summary

The Payroll Specialist processes multiple third party sick pay payrolls for clients of Matrix Absence Management. This individual will possess a high level of technical knowledge, ethics and values while addressing issues for both individual client and internal operation questions regarding payroll calculations.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining related client payroll records
  • Ensure accurate filing of tax reports
  • Maintain and update amounts of benefits and associated adjustment of tax liabilities
  • Ensure the proper reallocation of benefits paid across several earnings codes
  • Accurate calculation of regular pays (not disability related) under specific conditions and adjustments of pre/post tax premiums withheld.
  • Close partnership with Matrix operations in determining Best Practice; in conjunction with external experts such as tax consultants, legal counsel, etc.
  • Ensuring all payroll procedures are current
  • Preparing special reports, as requested

Education, Qualification & Experience

  • 3 to 5 years direct payroll processing experience, required
  • Associate's degree or equivalent, a plus or higher education. (CPP designation, preferred)
  • Proven experience in payroll expertise, especially in the area of third party sick pay and other disability benefits.
  • Solid understanding of accounting fundamental and payroll best practices
  • Knowledge of legislation and regulations in this field and knowledge of resources for additional information, as needed
  • Proficient in MS Office; knowledge of relevant software.
  • Knowledge of multiple payroll system, a plus (Ceridian, ADP, Workday, PeopleSoft, SAP, Kronos, and NGA
  • Outstanding organizational ability with great attention to detail
